Why Join the American Legion?
Did you know the American Legion is the only veteran organization chartered by Congress?
The 66th Congress did so in 1919 after a group of American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) had met in Paris France and agreed a support organization was needed. This began a fruitful and beneficial relationship. Some of the great things that have come of this relationship include the G.I. Bill, Department of Veterans Affairs, Veteran Healthcare System, Compensation & Benefits, and many more things. Burn pit issues, Agent Orange, and Women Vet issues. The American Legion, through its relationship with Congress, keeps things current for all of us veterans.
