The Sons of the American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion.
We are a civilian, non-political, non-sectarian organization. We do not promote the partisan ideology of any particular political party or any specific candidate seeking public office. We also are not affiliated with, nor do we promote the beliefs of, any specific religion. We do promote the principles of the American Legion and advocate for the needs of all veterans, the wellbeing of all children, and respect for the flag and culture of our Great Nation. We do this in honor of the rights and freedoms secured for us through the military service and sacrifices of our ancestors.
Any male descendant, adopted son or stepson of an American Legion member, or of a deceased veteran who would otherwise qualify for membership in the American Legion, is eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Legion.
