Candidates will appoint the following officers for the upcoming year, to serve on their team – Adjutant – Membership Director – Sergeant at Arms – Historian.
Set up time and place for the District Family organizational meeting.
Invite all District Family Officers, Executive Board members and County Commanders; with the purpose of setting up the year’s programs.
At the organizational meeting, with help from the District Family Membership Directors, determine dates and locations for the following events:
RALLIES – At least one rally in each area and one Past District Commander/ Presidents Rally
TESTIMONIAL DATES
Provide name tags for all District Legion Officers (misc. expense). Membership shirts being optional (shirts expense out of Commander’s budget or personal funds).
Current
Present desired appointees to the Executive Board for their approval at the 1st District Changeover Meeting.
Appoint the following committees for the upcoming year:
Post Development Committee
Steering Committee
Audit and Budget Committee (with assistance from Finance Officer)
All Non-Elected County Commanders
Have the District Colors posted and retrieved or acknowledged at all meetings and rallies.
Establish the dress code for the District and Department meetings.
Approve all vouchers for expenses and forward copies to the District Finance Officer for payment upon approval of the Executive Committee. Payments made according to the budget provided by the District Finance Officer and approved by the Executive Committee.
Attend all audit and budget committeemeetings. As Commander of the District, it is their responsibility to oversee the audit and help plan the year’s budget.
At the discretion of the Commander, gifts may be presented to the officers of the Auxiliary, SAL and his/ her District Officers at certain functions throughout the year (expense out of Commander’s budget or personal funds).
At the end of the District Commanders year, the Commander will set dates for the following:
Executive Board Meeting
Change Over Meeting
Officers Training Meeting for new Post Commanders and Adjutants. (Consulting with incoming Commander and all Parties involved)
Recommend that All District Officers and Executive Board Members make every effort to attend ALL District and Department events.
Provide an article for the District Newsletter each month no later than the 26th of each calendar month.
Elections, Conferences and Conventions
District Commander and Adjutant will meet with the Post that is going to host the First District Convention. They will help set up the convention programs.
Appoint at the District Convention following committees and chairperson: Nominating Committee, Credentials Committee, and Resolution Committee.
Encourage the District Sergeant at Arms, Membership Director and Historian; although not members of the Executive Board, to attend all meetings of the board.
Past Commander
Recommend that All District Officers and Executive Board Members make every effort to attend ALL District and Department events.
Shall serve on the First District Executive Board with voting privileges for three years after serving as the First District Commander.
Shall serve on the Department Executive Board with voting privileges for one year after serving as the First District Commander
Shall assist the First District Commander when called upon.
