Sergeant At Arms
The Sergeant at Arms acts as the guardian of the conduct of the members at the various meetings of the District and the District Executive Committee.
The Sergeant at Arms is responsible for
- The stand of colors ensure they are properly in place at all meetings.
- If necessary, see that a uniformed color guard presents the colors.
- See that District colors are carried in the District and Department parades. Post Color Guard is supplied by the host Post for programs.
- Carries out duties assigned by the District Commander and is available for message work.
- Gather name(s) and title(s) of visiting individual(s) and give that information to the District Commander.
- Escorts visitor(s) to the front, and upon finishing, if needed, escort them back.
- Be familiar with all phases and customs in the postings, retrieving and displaying National colors and in the handling of District colors.
- Post colors with the Auxiliary and the Sons of The American Legion at the District Rallies when called upon.
- Post colors together at the District Fall and Mid-Winter Conferences, as well as the District Convention Memorial Service.
