Legislative Chairman
The Legislative Chairman is responsible for becoming familiar with the resolutions passed at District and Department Conventions that will require legislative action. They will disseminate this information to all posts within the district and to all district officers so local legislators can be contacted for support.
The Chairman should watch for other reports of legislative action, in addition to resolutions, that will impact our objectives and distribute this information to the various posts within the district by using the 1st District Bulletin.
The Chairman receives information from the Department Chairman, The Department Fall Conference, and other mailings.
The Chairman disseminates information through the personal contact with post officers, District Bulletin, Facebook Page, Newsletter to all Post Commanders and Adjutants. The Chairman will have information and brochures available at Mid-Winter and District Convention.
The Chairman will
- Recruit people to attend legislative meetings where shows of numbers assist gaining favorable action.
- Attend and report to the District Mid-Winter and District Convention.
- Prepare a report for the Commander for distribution at the District Convention.
- Attend the Department Convention and Department Fall Conference to get the most up-to-date information available.
